Landing in July

Offering you a mini way to land this month, in the abscence of being able to gather in-person.

This is an invitation to gather in a virtual space, knowing that ahead is the promise of a beautiful and expansive space together in September…

Below you will find some musings on new beginings, a gentle embodiment practice, and seasonal playlist and a look ahead at what awaits us in September. If you can, this Saturday, find a quiet, cool spot and allow yourself to drop into a little of the essence of the space we had hoped to create for you all.

Let yourself land here, in this hot summer of rebirth…

With love from Emma & Hayley

let the wilderness in.
grow a forest for a heart.
make your very blood
a salve
of pine
and open sky.
be the air
that birds come to sing in.
the water
that even rivers seek.

This is the month of the Buck Moon – which is at its fullest on the 10 July - we would have been together in the woods two days following this moon - an auspicious and potent time to burgeon our longing and reconnect with the path ahead.

Named after the buck (male) deer - who, at this time of year, grows a new pair of antlers having shed the old ones - the July full moon comes to us at a time of renewal and growth, of rebirth and new beginnings. In the possibility of newness, the buck moon is a bold metaphor for transformation and taking courageous steps forward.

With this in mind, together we have collected a couple of offerings for you, something to create space, bring grounding, connection, ritual, reflection.

the Buck Moon

rebirth, transformation, new beginnings

letting our branches grow

This lovely ten-minute movement meditation is a gift from Hayley, which connects to our planned summer theme of ‘trusting our desires and letting our branches grow’. By connecting our arms to the deep space of lungs and heart, supported by legs that can let the weight down through to the earth. Ground and land.

soulful summer sounds

Bringing together the music of Ayla Nereo, Peia, Yaima, Woven Kin, Essie Jain, Aisha Badru, Wild Arrow, Starling, Emory Hall and Olivia Fern, enjoy this lovingly-curated playlist of soulful summer sounds. Put it on when the sun is high, feel the warmth on your skin, and into your bones, a summer moment of escape and dreaming.

on new beginnings

In this seasonal reflection, Emma shares the beautiful words and poetry of John O’Donoghue from his book ‘Blessings’. A chance to offer yourself ten minnutes of quietness to reflect on new beginnings, and how we are held, even in these moments of courageous rebirth, by an ancient rhythm, of the breath, the heartbeat, the circularity of life.

balancing light & dark

In this video, Hayley shares some of the intention and inspiration behind the dance we’ll be sharing in September. ‘Burial’ brings to mind the persecution of the witches, the sense of ancestral trauma moving through us, returning to the land that was taken from us, a homecoming, bringing light to the darkness, a healing. Deep, beautiful work.

JOURNALLING PROMPTS FOR JULY

What are you celebrating now?

At the height of this firey summer, what is being ignited?

What lies on the other side of the summer’s fire?

What is the sun shining a light on?

What will you carry with you into the second half of this year?

And what will you leave behind?
